Guest blogging has been around for a long time, and link-building experts and marketing companies commonly utilize it to acquire high-quality backlinks.
However, the major issue with guest posting is that Google tends to dislike it. According to John Mueller, guest writing for links creates unnatural links, which Google already devalues.
As a result, traditional guest blogging methods are no longer effective. Google engines are trained to recognize guest content since it is quite clear.
However, this does not mean that guest blogging is finished. You need to be clever about it.

Resource link-building is the second and most potent link-building approach in the link-building checklist.

c. Purchasing Expired Domains
Another efficient link-building approach is to buy expired domains with high website authority.
This is a more advanced link-building method and a purely Black-Hat SEO strategy; if you acquire a domain and then 301 redirect all backlinks to it, you will be penalized, guaranteed.
However, there are two approaches you may use while remaining inside the white-hat SEO framework:
Technique 1: Instead of starting your website with a fresh domain, use an expired one.
This strategy gives you an SEO edge since you are not beginning from scratch regarding backlinks. Once you start rating this website, the backlinks will kick in, and you will rank higher than if you used a new domain.
Technique 2: Broken Link Building is a safe and cost-effective method for addressing expired domains. Find expired domains in your niche, analyze the content with backlinks, recreate it on your website, and notify those who still link to the expired domain about your replacement.
e. Link Exchanges
The second link-building tactic on our list is exchanging links with PageRank.
Now, this violates Google’s quality criteria. However, Google is referring to excessive link exchanges. So, I’m not sure if it’s okay to do it once in a while. I’ll let you make the decision.
However, as you can see, this technique operates on a very basic concept. You just ask if the other domain will swap backlinks with you. This is known as reciprocal link exchange.
Alternatively, some domains may object to reciprocal link exchanges because they raise a red flag for Google’s spam detection. They may give a link from another site in return for a link to their original domain. This is known as a non-reciprocal link exchange, also referred to as a three-way exchange.
f. Competitor Backlink Analysis
Another effective technique for obtaining numerous high-quality backlinks is competition backlink research.
Competitor backlink analysis allows you to examine how well your competitors perform, where their backlinks come from, and what you need to do to compete with them.
It provides information on the competitor’s total backlink profile and page-level details to help you determine how many backlinks you need to generate to rank in the top positions.
It is one of the finest methods for starting a link-building campaign since it allows you to see what your competitors are doing and then reverse-engineer it for your own website.
g. Unlink Mentions
Another effective link-building method is to claim unlinked mentions of yourself or your business.
You can now clearly identify an issue. Most of us, including me, do not receive as many mentions as well-known personalities or well-established corporations do.

This is undoubtedly the simplest technique for monitoring unlinked brand mentions. It saves you a significant amount of time and provides a more accurate picture of your mentions and the individuals or sites that referenced your brand.
