Google is implementing major changes to its search feature this month (November 2024). These adjustments will take approximately two weeks to fully implement. Google releases large upgrades regularly throughout the year. They announced this one since it might dramatically alter how websites appear in search results.
This upgrade follows a similar one they released in August. According to Google’s LinkedIn post, they aim to present more information that truly benefits people and less stuff that was developed just to score high in search results.
Google released its November 2024 core update today. Once the rollout is complete, Google will provide more information on its status page. While Google hinted at the upgrade weeks ago, it cautioned that websites affected by last year’s September content modification should not expect significant gains. It’s too early to say how this new upgrade may affect search rankings.
What Should You Do If Your Website Is Affected?
Don’t panic if your website’s ranks slip. Google’s usual guidance remains:
There are no quick fixes for recovery
Lower rankings do not necessarily imply that your site has problems
Focus on producing information for humans, not search engines
Major ranking increases typically occur with further core releases
Google emphasizes that if you’re currently creating good content for actual people, there’s no need to do anything extra. However, if your rankings fall, they recommend reviewing their approach to developing helpful, trustworthy, people-first content.

Why Does This Matter?
Core updates often result in significant changes to Google search results and traffic. While some websites may improve their ranks, others may notice a reduction in their places and visitors. These changes can have a big influence on your or your client’s website visibility in Google search results.
