According to Botify and DemandSphere’s analysis of 120,000+ inquiries, 75% of Google AI Overview links score 12th position or above in organic results. This finding is important because, while AI Overviews and Snippets currently dominate prime SERP positions, understanding their content patterns and effective SEO strategies may help websites appear in these features.
High cosine similarity. According to the report:
“Our findings revealed a strong correlation between semantic similarity of websites and AI Overview text.” Content that closely matches the AI Overview’s goal is more likely to be cited and linked.”
While high rankings are associated with AI Overview inclusion, they are not always the cause. Rather than focusing exclusively on ranking in the top 12, websites should prioritize creating high-quality content that best answers customers’ search queries, as this is likely what Google’s AI appreciates.
Key findings show that Google AI Overviews appear in nearly half of all searches, occupying up to 75.7% of mobile and 67.1% of desktop screen space when combined with featured snippets. While they are common in informational searches (59%), they appear less frequently in commercial queries (19%).
