OpenAI has added web search to ChatGPT to compete with Microsoft’s Bing and give users an option to Google’s long-time search leader.
OpenAI launched its AI-powered search engine about two weeks ago. However, few people know that ChatGPT Search can now be used instead of Google and other search engines.
How to Make ChatGPT Your Default Search Engine?
You may make ChatGPT your primary search engine in Chrome and other browsers, such as Edge, Brave, and Opera, by installing an extension from the Chrome Web Store.
To make ChatGPT your default search engine, open Google Chrome and search for the ChatGPT Search extension, or just click this link to install it. Check the extensions tab to ensure that the extension was successfully installed.
Keep in mind that some browsers may automatically disable the ChatGPT Search extension, so add it to your favorites menu to ensure that ChatGPT remains your usual search engine.
Why Can’t I Use the ChatGPT Search Feature?
Currently, only ChatGPT Plus and Team members can utilize ChatGPT’s search feature. Enterprise and Education users will receive it soon, while free users will have access later, though no specific date has been mentioned.
ChatGPT Search is an advanced version of SearchGPT, an AI search concept that OpenAI teased earlier this year. So, if you applied for the SearchGPT queue, you would have access to ChatGPT Search even if you did not have a subscription.
