Kinsta’s analysis of 140,000 websites finds out which plugins are most popular for reliability and speed and shows that publishers prioritize performance, user experience, and SEO. Schema.org ranks tenth (1.75% usage) due to its broad structured data capabilities.
Among analyzed websites, XML Sitemap Generator (2.17%) provides WordPress-like functionality. In comparison, Broken Link Checker (3.27%) detects 404 errors, and SEOPress (4.81%, 300k+ installations) handles SEO and schema optimization, making it the seventh most used plugin.
Among popular plugins, All in One SEO ranks sixth (5.11%, 3 million+ installations), while Imagify is the fifth most popular (11.62%), dominating WordPress image optimization due to a lack of competitors.
Rank Math (18.32%, 3 million installations) and WP Rocket (19.10%) are ranked fourth and third among Kinsta-hosted WordPress sites, with WP Rocket focusing on performance optimization and file compression.
Redirection ranks second (26.85%) in terms of features other than redirects. It performs much more than link redirecting, including 404 error reporting and security headers, whereas Yoast is the most used SEO plugin, with 57.95% usage across 10 million+ websites, making it the most trusted among 140,000 websites analyzed.
